I can't believe how much Quentin has grown since we moved to Albuquerque. He was crawling and now he's running around everywhere. His vocabulary has really increased in the last couple of months. He repeats a lot of the words we say and uses more and more on a daily basis. He has been throwing tantrums more and more too, especially in the mornings. Not really looking forward to more of those. He's also going through this phase where he likes to hang out in his crib instead of napping. I've tried putting him down later and that doesn't seem to matter. He definitely needs a nap because by 3-4:00 pm he's a mess and I have to put him down for another nap.
I'm having another baby sometime in the beginning of April. Seems to be a popular due date, I've seen lots of people on Facebook that are due the same time. Everything seems to be going well with the pregnancy although I'm still nervous about it. I thought after having one successful pregnancy that I wouldn't worry so much with the second, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Mostly things are the same as when I was pregnant with Quentin although this time I have had more headaches and the cramping has been more like menstrual cramps where as last time they were more sharp pains. I had a lot of problems with my sciatic nerve in the last few months of my pregnancy last time and unfortunately it's already happening again, which is very confusing to me since I figured it was because of the baby's position last time.
I swear I've felt the baby move a couple of times, which seems unlikely from what I've read. They say that some women will feel the baby as early as 13 weeks, but that's rare. Maybe I'm just wishing I could feel it. I've been having lots of crazy dreams and I had one where even my husband could feel the baby kicking and I thought maybe the baby wasn't human since it was so early. Kind of goes a lot with a dream I had when I was pregnant with Quentin that the baby was an alien.
Since this is my second baby it seems that lots of people like to talk to me about the spacing in age of my kids and theirs. Quentin and this baby will be 25.5 months apart. I wanted them to be about two years apart for a few different reasons. My siblings and I are all 4-5 years apart and I always felt that was too much. I never went to school with any of them and wasn't really friends with them until now because I was so much older than them.
Also I started having babies a lot later than my mom so I couldn't stretch it out that long (or I guess I didn't want to). I want to be about done around my 35th birthday since that's when all the high risk stuff sets in. Plus my mother-in-law made a good point about how it's more cost efficient to have your babies closer together. We can reuse the car seat and I can get back to work sooner since I'd like to be at home as much as possible while they are not in school.
Sometimes I wonder if it would have been better to wait another year since Quentin would be more able to take care of himself by then and it may be easier. Little late now :) I can't really imagine not having another baby now though. I just feel like it was the right time although I can really see the benefits of waiting a little longer. With some of the moms I've talked to they had their first two closer together than the second two, maybe we'll end up doing that. Having kids is more of a "wait and see how it goes" than I thought it would be. I don't want to be overwhelmed.
