I'm pretty sure we're on the tail end of this insanely busy time of our lives. We've moved on from remodel to maintenance, of which there is no shortage - I'm really missing being able to submit a request at the front desk instead of having to deal with it ourselves. Hopefully we'll work out the kinks soon.
We had a farewell party for our friends and they were our first visitors since they needed somewhere to crash for a couple days after the movers took all of their belongings. My husband finished all his classes and thankfully will be taking the summer off from school. It was pretty impressive. He did an entire semester's worth of an online excel class in three days and came out with an "A."
We finally finished Quentin's room (except for the decorations) and he's slept in his own bed for the past three days! He's been doing pretty well. He woke up three times the first night and twice the last two nights, but it's getting better. He's napping better in there than he was in our room. We put up these great black out curtains which really help. We also put in a dimmer switch and a ceiling fan that are great (especially since the thermostat we had installed was the wrong one and we can't access the air conditioning).
It was much harder on us to move him out of our room than it was for him. We were sad we couldn't cuddle with him anymore at night, but it's been great to actually cuddle with each other now. It's been hard to feel connected as a couple with so much to do during the day and a baby between us at night.
Quentin has been losing his hair but only on the sides so it looks like he's wearing a toupee. Speaking of his hair, it seems like the cradle cap he's been sporting is on it's way out after a few treatments of olive oil and combing during bath time. It's still pretty dry though.
This mothering business is definitely getting easier. Probably because I'm getting more sleep at night so I'm not a complete zombie during the day.
Our new church congregation/ward is super friendly. I've never been in such a nice ward. We've been late the last two Sundays so we missed the announcements, but apparently they had decided to do a little social during the 3rd hour of church last week. I figure it's because they had some new people come into the ward after the big boundary changes at the beginning of the month. We met a lot of people in that hour. We are even invited to a neighborhood potluck tomorrow (which reminds me I need to think of something to bring!).
It seems that we made such an impression, yesterday I got a call from the counselor from Wyoming, asking me to represent our mutual home state by giving a talk on charity this week. I laughed when he asked because last week I had the distinct impression that I would have to give I talk soon. I haven't spoke in church for a long time, probably four years. Hopefully it goes ok. Everyone will definitely know me now.
