So this morning I called my OB/GYN to let them know I got a positive reading. I had set up my annual appointment like a month or so ago when I figured I could also chat about things to do in getting ready to get pregnant. Now that I'm pregnant I wanted them to know so they could plan on giving me a blood test. The lady I spoke to was very nice. I've never gone to this doctor but she got a lot of good reviews on line. The woman told me that they would give me a blood test and then schedule my first OB appointment for later. From what I've read most women have their first appointment at week 8 and I'm either at week 4 or 5 depending on which website you look at. So I'm thinking we'll probably have it after we get back from Florida. I'm excited just thinking about it. We'll get to listen to the baby's heart beat by then.
I'm starting to feel a little more at ease and not so paranoid about having a miscarriage. I read that 10-15% of pregnancies end in miscarriages and only 2% for those under 30 (luckily I'm technically still under 30). I'm trying to be positive about the whole thing, and while I like to keep my expectations low, I also want this to be a positive happy experience and I want to enjoy being pregnant, not just worry all the time. I'm doing all I can to be healthy and if I do miscarry it must be God's will. It really makes me want to get on the ball with this having a family business though so I'm not too old.
Also, I've been praying a lot for Heavenly Father to help me not worry about it and to bless my baby that he/she will grow in to a healthy full term baby and that there won't be any complications with the pregnancy or delivery. I think that has helped the more than my rational thinking. I have really felt calm and like everything will be ok.
I'm really excited for us to be parents, but I'm also excited for this new little spirit and for all the great things he/she has to look forward to in this life. Already s/he has lots of family who will be his/her biggest fans. He/she is really lucky to be born into this family, not necessarily to have me as a mom, but to have my husband as a dad will be a treat and all those grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, and cousins are going to shower him/her with so much love.
We've been talking about how we are going to reorganize our small one bedroom apartment to include our little one. I think we're going to have to do some purging!
